Decades of Public Service Supporting Access to Justice

Hon. Christine M. Clark has dedicated her career to public service, bringing nearly three decades of experience as a prosecutor, trial judge, and appellate justice. She has served as a New York State Supreme Court Justice since 2013, presiding over cases with fairness, integrity, and a deep understanding of how court decisions impact people and communities.
Since 2014, Justice Clark has also served as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, Third Department, reviewing complex legal matters from across New York State and helping ensure that the law is applied consistently and thoughtfully. Prior to her current roles, she served as a Schenectady County Family Court Judge and Schenectady City Court Judge, building a strong record of steady leadership and sound judgment at every level of the judiciary.
Recognized Experience

Justice Clark’s legal career began in private practice at the law firm of Dreyer Boyajian, LLP in Albany. There she learned from top criminal defense and personal injury attorneys. However, she realized she wanted to pursue public service.
Justice Clark’s career in Schenectady began in public safety and accountability. She served in the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, later becoming a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Prosecutor and ultimately Bureau Chief of the Special Victims Unit, where she handled some of the most sensitive and high-stakes cases in the court system.
Justice Clark is a longtime advocate for strengthening the court system and expanding access to justice for New Yorkers. In 2024, she was named Judicial Co-Chair of the Attorney Emeritus Program Advisory Council through the Office of Justice Initiatives (OJI). She serves as the liaison with bar associations and law schools as well as engaging in recruitment efforts for volunteer attorneys. This program is co-administered by OJI and the Fordham Law School Feerick Center for Social Justice, and links legal service providers with volunteer attorneys aged 55 or older to provide pro bono legal services for individuals who cannot afford legal representation.
Grounded in Family and Community
Justice Clark is a proud graduate of Columbia University, where she earned a B.A. in History and Political Science, and Albany Law School, where she earned her J.D. cum laude. Before beginning her legal career, she trained as a dancer at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, an experience that shaped her discipline, focus, and lifelong commitment to hard work.
Christine moved to Albany for law school - building her career and her family in New York’s Capital Region ever since. Christine now lives in Schenectady County with her husband, Bob, and her two daughters, Isabel and Elaina. She is also the proud stepmom and stepgrandma to two daughters and six grandchildren.
